About the Summit
The AMO Summit launched last year to offer media operators a place to learn and network away from the latest buzzwords and pivots. 130 people joined us in New York City to discuss smart business models, unique media companies, and the state of media M&A.
We’re back again this year with even more of what you’ve come to expect from A Media Operator. Now at The Times Center, we will feature a diverse and dynamic roster of speakers and panelists who will share how they have built their media companies with sustainable business models.
But the event is also about what happens outside of the theater. There will be ample opportunity to network, with long breaks between content, a robust lunch, and a cocktail hour after the event is over. You will walk away having met other great media operators.
Who should attend?
Founders & Executives
You will learn from innovative media operators and meet others who are building sustainable media companies.
Bankers & PE
There are numerous media companies there, many who may one day want to sell. Meet them before they’re ready.
Vendors
The room will be full of great media companies, but there is limited space for vendors looking to sell their products.

Agenda
Details on where and when
Axios has taken a strong stance on its belief that AI will fundamentally change what media is with Axios founder, Jim VandeHei saying it's the "most difficult moment for media in our lifetime."
In this fireside discussion, Allison Murphy will chat about what that means for Axios, how it is preparing, the decisions the team is making, and, ultimately, how it grows from here.
A discussion with two founders of media startups:
- Becca Sherman is the co-founder & COO of Workweek, which is a growing collective of industry experts in healthcare, HR, marketing, and more.
- Eric Newcomer is the founder of Newcomer, a media company about the startup and venture capital industry.
Once media companies get over their fear that AI is going to put them out of business, they realize that the technology can be incredibly useful both within the organization and for the audience. We'll chat with Dan Shipper, co-founder & CEO of Every, and Vijay Nathan, SVP of Product at Apartment Therapy Media, to hear more about how these two are using AI at their publications.
With retail media on the rise and platforms acquiring more marketshare, how can publishers compete? Rachel Oppenheim, CRO at Semafor, and Imogen Bradbury, CRO at Industry Dive, will discuss what they are hearing from marketers and offer tips on how publishers can serve their clients more effectively.
Clayton Collins, Founder & CEO of HW Media, led a private equity buyout of HousingWire in 2016. Since then, it has grown and morphed into a multi-brand housing-related b2b media company with multiple events, a research offering, and much more. In this fireside chat, we'll dig into its growth and where the brand is headed.
Events have coming roaring back post pandemic. Join two exceptional events operators, Matt Middleton, founder & CEO of Future Proof, and Scarlett Sieber, Chief Strategy & Growth Officer at Money20/20 as we dig into what's working with events, how are audience behaviors evolving, what are sponsors looking for, and so much more.
Adam Shaw, Global Managing Director, Corporate Finance, will walk us through the key findings from the 2024 Media Acquisition Report.
We'll follow up the media acquisition report with a discussion about how the M&A markets look through the lens of three smart participants:
- Paul Miller, CEO of Questex, a media & events company
- Robert Gray, Operating Partner at EagleTree, a private equity fund that owns ALM, Arc, The Channel Co, and Northstar Travel
- Daniel Pitchford, CEO of Collingwood, a media business scale up advisory and M&A house
Nicholas Thompson is the CEO of The Atlantic. When he took over three years ago, the business was losing $20 million a year. Now it's profitable. In this discussion, we'll dig into how the team turned things around at The Atlantic as well as where he sees the business going from here, the recent deal The Atlantic signed with OpenAI, and much more.
